Google Apps Contacts Sync

Hi, I'm new to Batchbook and I'm kicking the tyres to see if it fits into my day to day. I'm hoping it does!

I have my first question, one of many I'm sure. I've configured my account to sync the contacts with my Google Apps account. The initial import has worked fine and syncing back to the Google Contacts is also working but there is something I want to clarify. When I add/change a contact in Batchbook and it synchronises back to Google Contacts it ends up in "All Contacts" rather than "My Contacts". Ending up in "All Contacts" doesn't allow that contact to be automatically synchronised to my phone. I have to take another step and go to Google Contacts and find that newly added/changed contact and "Move to My Contacts".

Is there a way to make Batchbook synchronise them to "My Contacts" directly.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for giving us a shot. I've been running this scenario through my test account and can't replicate. I'm going to check with the team and see if I can get some additional help for you.

    Hi Jason,

I'm sorry for the delay, trying to troubleshoot items once they reach Google is often a challenge as we don't have visibility in to that data.

When you sync your contacts over to Google it should create a BatchBook sync group in your account. Do you still have that Sync Group or has it been edited or changed?

An apologies for taking some time to respond in turn.

Yes the Batchbook group exists in the Google Contacts. It's adding contacts
and updates changed ones. It just doesn't add them to My Contacts. I don't
beleive that the contact group has been edited or changed. The name of the
group is "BatchBook Sync Group (<removed>)".

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

Sorry for the miscommunication, I was misunderstanding and thinking that your contacts were not going in to the sync group..

It is my understanding that there isn't currently a way for us to automatically push contacts in to the My Contacts group via their Contacts API.

What I do to work around this is to select my sync group and then all the contacts within in. Then I click groups and add them to a new temporary group that I create. This adds them to this temporary group but then also in bulk adds them to the My Contacts group as well (which then pushes them down to my Blackberry.) I then delete that new group just so it doesn't confuse me next time.

It's still a bit more manual than I would like but easier than selecting individual contacts from the my contacts listing.

    hope that helps,
    sb

We're hoping that things change so that we can provide this functionality.

Some platforms allow syncing of specific groups which makes this less of an issue for some but even for Blackberry it doesn't allow that flexibility.
